Frame Slider Pictures

Lockhart Phillips makes the top frame slider for the ZX12 and that's what I ordered. But they don't make one for the bottom. So I ordered a 2003 R1 bottom slider that matched the ZX12 top slider and made a mount for it. I had to take a 19.5" (3/8th diameter) all thread stainless steel rod and run it through the center of the frame sliders and swing arm pivot bolt. I did have to weld a nut on the end and make some special spacers too. If you want any more specifics about it just give me a call 865-389-2069. I rode it today and I didn't hit it with my foot at all. Now if I had a big ass club foot like Ninjaman12R or Otis it may be a problem, but that's probably doubtful too.

Dam mark, those are pretty spiffy...looks like a good fix to the crushed clutch covers wehn the bike falls on that side...its in a good location to offer some decent protection....hey I have an idea, how about I drop off my bike to you on my way to KY, and I pick it up with all these neat things on it in the spring.....lol

Nice....how about making us all some mounts like those? I'd be happy to pay a few bux....

Off topic, how much are those Giles (sp?) rearsets? From whom?

Thanks!

They are a great idea. If i woulda had them on my 12 when I went down the engine woulda been saved. Instead i got a cracked Crank Case, and the covers on both sides got broken.

I really wish I atleast had the motor left from it.

Check Lockhart Phillips Usa under performance page 6 Gillies Tooling Rearsets Ijust put a set of Spiegler LSL rearsets on mine I preferred them because they didn't offer so many peg positions that would just give me somthing to bitch about and adjust every time I ride.

Was there some concern about the upper sliders busting the engine case in a fall? From what I understand it is not a very strong support for the slider. Im only passing on what I have heard...god knows they coulda saved me some $$$ Look sweet too...

Your exactly right I have them on my 12 and all they are is for looks as far as protection I'd say their tottaly a waste of money.Well they might save a scratch if it fell over in the driveway but not if your riding.

Well, it does save in case of a stopsign or driveway fallover. But at speed, fagetaboutit!

Price the decals or a new clutch/brake handle, and it's not a bad investment.

But I sure like Mark's concept here. As you know the cases are $100+ per side, and this makes it less likely to crack one in a highside or a drop, with the accompanying oil loss, metal chips in the case, etc .

The foot-clearance thing still bothers me, but Mark has inspired me to start looking around for a way to mount these down low. Thanks for the ideas Mark!!!
