Larger capacity Gas/Petrol tank - interest?

Hello, I'm returning to ZX12R ownership and the forum after a few years of lesser bikes..

About the only thing that frustrates me about the 12 is the poor range between fill ups, particularly when pressing on a bit.

To this end I'm working on a larger capacity fuel tank - somewhere between 24 and 25 litres - to replace the original tank and would like to get an idea of whether anyone else is interested?

The replacement tank, in aluminium, will do away with the current tank cover and will replicate the the shape of the current tank below seat level but then above seat level will be of the approximate same dimensions as the current tank cover.

There will be a plastic cover that replicates the front section of the current tank cover to cover the ECU and finish the instillation so that it looks as close as possible to stock.

I'm based in the UK where an indicative price for the new tank and front cover would be in the region of £800....

7.6 lbs is a whole lot when you start cutting the weight down on the bike. But definitely not something that most people will buy.

Now while I have been playing the whole summer with ECU tuning I've found that normally the ECU keeps the fuel ratio very rich when You're riding over 110 kpm(65MPH). Now that I'm on my maybe 15-20th map and mostly tweaking just the IAP-map in the ECU my mileage has been come from 7,5l/100km(31MPG) to 6.2l/100km(38MPG). And that was riding partly normal roads at 100-120KPH(60-75MPH) and partly on highway at 120-150kph ( 75-95MPH). It isn't also supprise as before the AFR was less than 12 when riding at 125kph (78MPH) and now I'm always about 14.1-14.3 when just cruising with speeds less than 145kph (90MPH). That gives You some very needed extra miles with You're gas tank. Oc course it would be nice to have couple extra liters and get rid of that tank cover...

I have the ETI fuel cell on my 00'. It is substantially lighter, and it takes it off the top of the bike, where you notice it the most. It's a fair chunk of change, but what isn't?

I agree with Bigbore 4 it removes weight from the best place on a 12r other than the wheels.

On the richness, could this be associated with the ram air effect maybe??
