not shifting right

I put the engine back together and started it for the first time since changing transmission.I get no neutral light and the bike will not spin the tire when the shifter has been kicked down all the way. It's like the bike is in neutral when it should be in first.I know the 3 bb's were installed when I put 5th gear on.I am stumped on this one.

Don't know. I think the neutral indicater was upside down when installed and I'll have to look more closely at any pics in the manual.I did pull the clutch cover to have a look see and found the lock-up carrier bearing had popped out of the cover.I don't know if that may have been the cause.

fun pulling the shifting drum out while motor is still in the frame.I love it when oil drips down on your face and glasses.Lady bugs were out in force last night so constant cleaning out of them flying critters slowed me down.

Any progress yet.....
Mine did that too when I put the new trans. in....It was just the extended spacer on the shift pawl down by the clutch basket, too short....Allowed the pawl to slide over away from the mechanism.....

By looking at the gear position switch,I think I was off by 180* and was actually reverse shifting.I pulled the bottom two shifter forks and the drum while in the bike and it seems like it is ok now however I haven't gone through the gears yet.I started it just to do a heat cycle and burp the radiator but it won't idle right.Codes are being sent out as the throttle position sensor and the airbox pressure sensor along with the gear selector switch.I didn't reverse the two common connectors and they check out electrically,so I want to check the ground.good news is the neutral light works now.
