Removing Stator Cover

I have read a few threads on making sure you replace the metal gasket for oil pressure. I am wondering how much force does it take to pull the cover off from the stator/bike? How much difference will a polished aluminum one make as compared to the stock magnesium one minus weight savings?

It takes quite a bit of force to pull the cover off. The stator poles and the rotor magnets have a pretty good magnetic attraction. Enough that if you slip with one hand and pinch your fingers, your gonna say some very naughty cuss words....

Got it. Thanks for the assistance. There is a small leak from one of the front bolts. I did use some high temp silicone to help hold the new gasket in place, but what else may I have done wrong? Anyone know the torque for those screws?

Alternator Cover Installation •Apply silicone sealant to the alternator lead grommet and
crankcase halves mating surface [A] on the front and rear
sides of the cover mount.
Sealant - Kawasaki Bond (Silicone Sealant): 56019-120
•Check that knock pins are in place on the crankcase. •Install a new gasket, the alternator cover and clamps. •Tighten the cover bolts.
Torque - Alternator Cover Bolts: 15 N·m (1.5 kgf·m, 11 ft·lb)
how bout that

That is perfect Texas12. I got the new stator, rectifier, and battery installed and headlights are still nill. Fuses are good but not sure about the relays.
