Regarding carbon fiber tanks I just spoke to the prez of fuel cel http://www.eti-fuelcel.com/ and he's willing to do a one-off for me. The price is about the same as a safetech tank. Honestly, I don't think there would be a big enough group to even think about a discount, so I'm not going to try to organize one. What I would suggest, is if anyone is interested, give him a call. I'll be sending the tank down this week, so he'll have it and will be starting on the cf tank. These guys are definately the leading company producing aftermarket tanks, and I don't see any chance of the SAFETECH EXPERIENCE repeating itself.

What're the chances of having the tank made to where the cover isn't needed?....I'd buy one of those....bigger capacity!!

No chance, this will be an exact replica of the tank. Talk to Zhooligan about the fit of the +1 gallon tank on his bike. I want something that fits exactly, and I don't have to trim anything.

The tank weighs 4 pounds less then stock. The oversized tank requires trimming the cover which is not all that big of a deal, what is tiring is that the cover doesn't fit or line up as well as the stock one so installing the screws can be a challenge at times. I still really like my tank and would definitely buy another.

Sent off the tank today, 3 day UPS. Had a discussion with them, I guess a few of you guys out there have been giving him a call about a composite tank? I was able to answer a few questions for him, and told him that extra capacity would be great, as long as the fit was not altered for the bodywork, etc. We shall see...

HEY KEEP US INFORMED!! I could REALLY use some extra gas! Thats how my buddies beat me... they ride around for 200 miles or so - THEN the get on it while I'm stuck at the pump

i'd like to see the tank incorporate the cover. would make it harder to get at the fuses & shit, but should save a little weight & just simplfy tings, plus u could add even more capacity that way & reshape the tank a bit.

I'd give up on the idea of the cover being part of the tank. Shit, you'd have to figure out how to make the fuzes work, the ram air covers work, etc...And I don't even want to think about how to make it actually fit the bike. If he can figure out an extra gallon, or even 1/2 a gallon somewhere, that's cool. I just want one that *fits*

I want someone to make a fuel cell thats only 2 gallons for dragracing and other short burst outings. Think how much easier the bike would be to ride with a few extra inches of tank removed!

I have really had a blast over the past two years, modding my bike. It's been a learning experience, and for the most part, really rewarding!

I am also interested in getting a tank, should something be available. If there is any kind of list being kept, please put my name on it.
