Leaking WIre Harness!!!

Has anyone found the fix for the leaking wire harness as it comes from the alternator?! I have oil leaking in the back of my bike!

I believe that is the connector grease where it connects to your voltage regulator in the back, my bike did the same thing, I just cleaned it out and no prob... it must break down after a few years?

This may sound crazy. But I had the same problem and I found it was positive crankcase pressure pushing oil up from the stator wires where the harness enters the cover.

I took the stator cover off and cleaned the rubber grommet where the wires go thru with brake clean. Then inject some RTV (Room Temp Vulcanizing) sealer and inject it into the harness from the inside.
Then CAREFULLY slit 1/8" the out side wire sleeve very close to the stator cover and inject some more RTV sealer.

This will stop the oil from being "pushed" up the wire harness and coming out of the connector.

Y2k is right. This seems to happen to a lot of these bikes. Just one of those things, seal it up and it should be fine.

Same thing happened on mine. At the first Deals Gap rally, I believe there was at least 10 or so that had the problem and didnt even know!! Mine hasnt bothered me enough to remedy the situation, but when the time comes I will do as Y2k suggested.

How many of you guys (with the leaking problem) have your kleen air removed & block off plates installed? could this be causing additional pressure? Just a thought.

BigJ, actually there is no phsycal connection between the crankcase vent to the airbox and the clean air system except that they both go to the airbox.
The clean air system draws clean airbox air only and at low vacuum conditions. (full throttle)

Mine is doing too

Mine started doing it at the gap rally. It stopped after the second day, but after a good hard ride today it has reappeared. I will be fixing ASAP. I won't ride it again until it is repaired. I'd hate to let anyone see oil leaking out of a Kawasaki!!! Just think if a Harley rider saw me wiping oil out from under it!!!!!

Leaking oil...

I cleaned mine pretty good, then wrapped a plastic baggie around it, then taped it loosely just so no oil would spill out on my hugger and swingarm. When I get the chance I'll do as y2k suggests, but it hasn't really been a problem as yet.........
