My 02 12R fits me so good, I'm trying to keep it. Even if I buy another bike.

Yea I saw the thread. I think your taking it wrong. I dont think his intentions were to dis the 14.

I havent ridden a 14 but it weighs the same as the 12r or there abouts. So If you think its miles ahead of the 12r in handling then you havent ridden a liter bike recently.
Those are a huge difference in handling.
But for me bikes are all about HP. I like lots of HP in everything I have ever owned. And my 12r has more power than 99.8% of all the zx14's to this point.
I did the 1375 motor for under $2000 to save $6,000 that the 14 would have cost me after i sold my 12r.
But even a 14 with a pipe vs my 181 hp stock bore, stroke, cam, 12r wouldnt be enough of a HP (10?) increase for me to spend $6000.
But a zx14 or a new busa is in the picture for me in a few years.
Shit, maybe even Honda will make somthing soon thats an upgrade from the 12r.
But dont hold your breath.

If they will finally make the "foreman grills" functional, I will trade. That would be a hell of a cost savings on my daily lunch expenses. And grilled foods are healthier than fried....

Piped 14 is gonna need quite a bit more power for it to be a trade "up" from my 12

I like the 14 just fine.

I think the siamesed block is a mistake, but I thought Nikosil was a bad idea too. LOL

Two years from now we'll all know one way or another.

Don't get too upset Steve. I could give a rats ass what somebody else says about the 12. I know the bike inside out and know how good it is, so who cares?

Is the Nikasil really a plus for these bikes? Not too many people worried about getting 150k miles without a re-bore....

I like the 14 as well...just hard to put $6k with my 12 and start at ground zero...

I'll be getting a 14 in 2008...To me the 14 is what the 12 should have been except for the looks!!!

The 14 feels like the 12 to me, but more comfortable!!!

I was actually going way back in the day when Nikosil was put out Shane.

A lot of us (or at least me) had some flashbacks of GM's attempt to make an aluminum sleeved motor work. It didn't (bad didn't).

I'm dating myself. LOL

Ouch you guys are a little tuff on Vince. Even though I feel he has an anti ZX-14 agenda at times, he is an allright guy in my books. I have a 1270 12R that will drag my ZX-14 behind it easily. However I like riding the ZX-14 as much as I do the 12R. Ya'll just need to jump on the bandwagon and get a 14. Keep your 12R's and have fun with both. 2 different machines, that fill different riding styles. Both are a blast..

I like the 14, it just not enough of a step up from the 12 in "build-ability", and doesn't match the Busa in the same category.

I LIKE the integrated case/cyl block, and I like that you can bore/stroke it to 1500cc.

I DON'T LIKE that Kwak kept the same crank width. Another cm in engine width would give worlds more potential for bigger pistons.

I DON'T LIKE that Kwak kept that fukken monocoque frame which makes the 12 and the 14 two of the hardest bikes to work on.

My 1427 will scorch 95% of the 14's out there and the 12 is more pleasing to my eye, so I am satisfied for now.

I find it kinda curious that a bunch of 14 owners are so thin skinned when folks take exception to some aspect of the 14. Can't figure that one out, nope.

Busa will roll the dice one of these days, I am waiting.

We have all gone to bed with someone after having WAYYYYYY to much to drink and thinking what a great time I had last night.
Then you wake up and look accross the bed a see this creature from another world.
Thats the way it is with the 14
You can have FUN on her
but eventually you wake up and ask yourself what the F**k was I thinking.
Boy, do I need to stop over indulging....

Maybe they get "thin skinned" because of its similarity to the crap Suzuki rhetoric that has been spewed for years I dunno??? I dont get too riled up about. It's a good machine despite what some people think. If you dont have your missing out. However I will say, I sure as fuck wont give up my 1270 bike
