I am trying to decipher all this with my one month old on my lap. According to ridges actual findings in the ecu 68* only gets you a 13-14% increase. I think I need to go lower to accomodate the nitrous system i have. Need that 22-18% figuring thats the range im spraying in. I am thinking a pot. to go all the way til it faults. then come up slightly. Im trying to figure a straight resistence level instead of the pot so it doesnt get moved

Ya know what your right guess i wasnt paying attention in that part of the thread looks like 25K ohm would be full cold so 24K ohm is the closest common value to use
hope kz is watching this thread need him to replace the resistor on the relay box from 470ohm to 24k ohm

quote:
The usable voltage is 4.7 (coldest) to 2.7V. Below that there is little or no ofset

Here is some data for you to chew on
The voltages are the zone boundries the software uses to point to a map value. A voltage < 0.29 returns map temp offset value 1. 0.29 < voltage < 0.45 returns value 2 etc.

The resistance is the value between the ECU temp pin and ground that would give you that voltage.

Volts0 K Ohms
0.29 0.112
0.45 0.178
0.61 0.248
0.76 0.324
0.92 0.405
1.07 0.493
1.23 0.588
1.39 0.691
1.54 0.803
1.70 0.927
1.86 1.062
2.01 1.212
2.17 1.378
2.32 1.564
2.48 1.772
2.64 2.008
2.79 2.278
2.95 2.589
3.11 2.951
3.26 3.378
3.42 3.889
3.57 4.512
3.73 5.289
3.89 6.284
4.04 7.604
4.20 9.439
4.36 12.164
4.51 16.632
4.67 25.306

Thats what I thought. I already have a SPDT relay. Looks like the way to go. Thanks for all the help

Eureka!!!!!! It works!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At operating temp hitting that switch It bogs slightly and you can visibly see the unburnt fuel coming out of the exhaust. Add a little N2O, and im set.

So my final thought on this setup after getting it all put together.....I didnt take notice to the gauge, but in by-passing the ECT sensor, that would also in turn disable the fans correct and not tell you if the bike was overheating on a run down the strip. I know nitrous cools the chambers....but maybe a switch to turn the fans on at the tree might not be a bad idea.

i have made a couple passes forgetting to turn the fan on on a motor(1287) pass. i have a manual switch. it doesnt over heat. the fan really doesnt do much compared to the wind you get at 150ish mph. a lot of drag setups arent even cooled. you just need the fan on in the pits really.

Hey Sly, I sent you an email, this pretty much sums it up:

its been a long time, so i want to double check the wiring so i dont fry anything! Im going to tap into the wiring harness at the ecu instead of at the actual sensor, so it can hide in the tail nicely. the sensor ground is easy ( splice into pin 60) but im unsure of how to connect sensor + from ecu, and sensor + from sensor. do i do anything with the blue wire, or is it just a matter of cutting the orange wire(pin 40), and putting the box in the middle?

oh and i still need to replace the resistor, 470 ohms wouldnt really do much would it?

thanks!

scott.. ok man.. what are ya tryin to do bro?

lets see if i can figure something out for ya.
i'm guessing whatever resistor you guys were talking about switching to 470 correct?
is this the resistor to feed the ECU the "cold" signal?
