Doug, you sure know how to put a smile on a guy's face. I'll shoot you an e-mail.
Thanks again for the history lesson. The unfortunate part about motorcycle land speed racing is that not much of the history is written down anywhere. Almost all the history that I know is from word of mouth. Scott Guthrie was nice enough to spend some time with me to fill me in on some of the history this week. I'm really happy that you're taking the time to add some more stories in there as well.

Scott was the first guy I met at the salt and he helped me as well, and that was in 1976. Wow, Scott, you must be OLD.........
quote:DId you know that before Sam Wheeler decided to Turbocharge his liner it went 304 with my ZX-11 engine in it? 304 on carbs and gas....... Just took it out of my bike and bolted it in the liner. He had handling probs on the return, so it's in the book as "Wheeler / Meyer 285 mph"
How about a flashback to the past, Doug. Man, you gotta love Google.
"Doug Meyer has been running motorcycles at the Bonneville Salt Flats for over 20 years. He has set 13 records on seven different Kawasakis and currently holds six records. His ZX-11 has gone just under 197 mph, and he continues to chase that very elusive 200-mph-club membership. Doug can be reached at Muzzys in Bend, Oregon."

Thanks, Mike. I wouldn't have made it without your help getting the stuff together. I hope you can make it out next year. It really is a lot more fun than dragracing...but, not quite as good for your paint job.
