Ran against a 14...the kinda run you really ache for too.....

After searching for a while a 12 guy hits me up and wants to run my 12. He mentions he has a buddy on a 14. I gladly accept.

We did roll-ons from 1st gear. 4 to be precise.

1st gear we go and I start pulling him I think by 2nd. By 5th or 6th I was out in front for sure.

2nd run was sorta impromptu since we made a U-turn...he nailed it a gear lower than I and took off. I nailed it and reeled him in by the end of 5th passing him in 6th or so

3rd run was more of the same stuff...walked by and kept pulling

Last run was nice. Again 1st gear roll....both of us up in the air side by side. Shift into second and I scoot up a hair. After that its just shifting @ 12k over and over. Hit the limiter in 6th. A solid 15 bike lengths on him per a buddy on the sides watching the whole thing....

I NEVER SPRAYED DURING THESE RUNS!!

Both bikes had full muzzy pipes and pc3....but I also had it lowered a tad, no mirrors, flush signals, 17 tooth w/a 180/55 tire, BMC race filter, Bear short stacks, and I weigh 125 no gear vs his 190 lbs.

Overall a solid few runs....no one let out of it. Didn't bring the GPS but speedo was showing 210 or so (blurry of course)....actual MPH could not have been ANY more than 185 + 4 for the tire....

I offered another run w/spray but he just laughed asking whats the point.

Impressive. B informative to c what would happen if u switched bikes. Being smaller and lighter has its advantages.

I thought about it...

.....then the 12 wanted to run me....2-3 more times.....

....then another 12!.....my stock 2000 clutch was holding up but getting progressively worse. More mis-shifts and popping outta gear under heavy load. I need to change the oil on it and get the billet basket and 02 clutch upgrade soon...ticking time bomb. I just didn't wanna have it go out on him....

I'm sure there will be a next time though....

I have a 14 and ran my friend on his 12. mine stock, his muzzy pipe and pc3. He would get me in the first gear roll on. He jumped 2 bikes on me. In 2nd i pulled him and 3rd passed him. From a stop, I jumped a bike 1/2 and he never came close. His been riding and racing for years. Biggest difference. Im 246 and hes 280. The weight makes a big difference when bikes are close to each other.

I think Kawi is going to release a zx-14r in a year or so.... it seems the current zx-14 isn't really in the same category as teh 12r....

You mean ZZR for old fat people, just kidding. It would be nice if they stuffed a 14
into a ZX10 frame!

Yep, being old and fat I kind of like the ZZR styling better than the 14, and maybe
throw that 10 frame on as well.

My brother and I have done some roll on tests with my 12 and his Busa and weight
makes a huge difference. I am 250 and 6ft, he is about 100lbs heavier and 6'6", on
either bike I would pull him easy.

Your results mean nothing. I'd be impressed if you then switched bikes and had the same results. Put the same rider on both bikes to make it fair and see what gives.

Well Bergie, you are entitled to your opinion. But one thing is for certain, I can't risk someone messing up my bike before 2 Maxton runs this fall and BUBS this September. Maybe afterwards I'll swap with him going thru the gears but I have too much to lose w/someone else messing up my tranny from now till then.

I think its safe to say that the results would be much closer if we swapped bikes. The gearing and mods put me ahead of the game before we ran. 190 vs 125 lbs is significant as well.

What did you mean exactly when you said you'd "be impressed by if we switched bikes and had the same results"? Impressed by the 12 or the owner/rider?

My point is the dude you raced probably can't ride. 9 of 10 "I beat a ZX14" or "I beat a ... (whatever)" stories are because the other guy isn't very skilled at drag racing. It's more like you're implying that your 12 will smoke a 14, and I doubt it.

Same rider, or same skill - level rider on both bikes, then it's a fair comparison.

Lifes a garden, dig it?
