HMF or MICRON ???
I need some help, i just started on this forum but have been riding for 5 years. had a '99 copper busa but in 2001 i smartened up and bought the faster green model. a 2000 green 12r to be exact. when i purchased the 12r i only had enough cash for a slip-on (twobros). know that i'm stable on the money issue its time for a full system! i've heard of AKRAPOVIC, MUZZY, and all the other pipes out there. Everyone has those pipes (yes i know that must mean their good if everyone has them) but i want to be a little different. i've narrowed it down to 2 choices; HMF or MICRON (serpent). i've seen dynos of the 2 and the are up there with everyone else power wise. so any help will be great thanks!!

I know two guys with Microns and they sound pretty nice. I was originally going to get one until I found a deal on my Muzzy. Saw a Micron canister at a dealership the other day that started dark and blended into green. The colored cans have been critisized on this board before but I think they look sweet. To each his own and screw the critics I always say. I have to admit though, I have never seen a legit dyno graph by an independant source for the Serpent pipe. I wouldn't pay too much of a premium price for unproven technology. With Muzzy, I knew what I was getting. That and the fact that Muzzys has been very very valuable to all of us 12 owners in many ways including tech help. That counts for alot in my book. OK, I'll stop babbling now.

Thanks for the help 12Rpilot. the micron has that deep sound like my twobros. i've been to easyriders page a million times and seen every dyno the akra/muzzy has on the web. i want something to add to the hp and sound bitchin!
i've heard a muzzy on a 12r and don't like the sound much(don't get me wrong, sounds good, just not to my liking) and i've never heard a akrapovic in person but people say their not loud and i need a loud pipe.
I need help on the HMF exhaust, seen great dynos but never heard of anyone saying what they sound like, help me out fellow 12r riders. i need to get a good idea of each exhaust before i spend my cash. thanks

I have an HMF and at the dyno shootout, I was the loudest!! Made 170 hp also. Don't get hung up on the dyno sheets. I've seen them all and none of it matters. The microns do not impress me but... Thats my opinion. My HMF fit great and sounds really nice. Relativly quiet at idle. Loud at WOT. It's got a different tone also. Throaty but not rumbly at all. Kinda high pitched when ya rev it. Very high quility and alot less money than an Akro!

thanks, JESSZ1 thats a great help. I'm kind of leaning toward the HMF. what canister (and color 12) do you have?
and do you have or know any places i can see pics of the HMF on a 12r. and what other kinds of pipes were at the shootout?

I still don't understand...

I have an HMF, it's a stepped tube design, and I think it makes *at least* equal power to the Muzzy and Akra pipes,...but personally, I like the sound of the Micron better. I thnk it's a lower tone.
Incidentally, my friend with a full, standard Micron made AS MUCH Hp on the Dyno as I did with my HMF. Equivalent miles on each bike as well. It wasn't a Serpent design, but my point is that with the Micron, I don't think you'll lose any significant power if you were concerned about that.
