MCN TEST - 14 v Busa v 12R v BMW12 v XX

On a banked oval in the UK used for speed testing of cars for about 90 years here were the readings (all derestricted):

1. 14 - 189mph
2. 12R - 182mph
3. Busa - 181mph
4. BMW - 176mph
5. XX - 169mph

So the 14 has 7 - 8mph stock on the Busa and 12R while having to deal with the stringent 2007 emmission and noise shit the Busa and 12R haven't had to. That's an achievement, and considering as you get faster the hp required to get just 1mph increases exponentially.

The stock 14 had 14hp more than the Busa on the dyno at 169. It out-torqued the Busa by 12lb/ft.

On the drag (on a runway), 14 won, followed by Busa then 12.

40 - 120 roll ons - 14 by miles, then BMW, then 12 then Busa.

Busa still low down torque king due to huge dip in torque and hp in the 14 at 4000 revs, where they measure emmissions, presumably due to the 2007 EU tree hugger shit. Once pipe, pc and other breathing mods are done this will clearly be reversed.

14 the nimblest of the lot, full on road test next week.

Read it this morning in the shop. Will be on their website in the next couple of days.

Interesting how they described a one-off deristriction for the top speed test. They disconnected the plug from the counter on the final drive sprocket, robbing the ECU of speed information. This gave them one run without the restrictor before the "brain" missed the input and put the bike into error mode.

Maybe the way to do it properly is with a small logic divider circuit, just slow the pulses down. Come on all you electronics wizards.

Yeah, too bad Suzuki pulled their ringer off the market after one year of production. Just think about all those poor SUCKERS who bought 2000 and later models thinking they were getting a fast bike!!

Pipe and PC commander on the way as soon as they get the mapping on the pc figured out. Will talk to local dyno guy today and schedule baseline print so I can document gains

PCIII? Thought they were not yet available for the 14? If they are, call Brock and get the pipe setup with the PCIIIUSB already mapped from him when available (should be soon). I just got the full system from him for my 10R, including the PCIII.

Interesting that I've seen a post and pic of a 06 ZX10r that went 188mph on a GPS. He posted the pic of the gps mounted to his bike with the 188 mph on it.

I believe the bike could actually go a lot faster than that. I have a zx9 that's running close to some of the numbers .

They didn't do the top speed test on the banked oval. It was done at Bruntingthorpe, a 2 mile straight runway.
I thought the most interesting comment was that the BMW K1200S would have beaten the Kwak' in the 1/4 mile if it had a slicker gearbox. All the bikes had different strengths, the Kawasaki ZX-14 just had more than the others.

The speed test was done on the banked oval Bob.

Which is daft really as no way can you get top speed on a continuous curve with the shit concrete and bumps that that track has. Tyres overheat and shred like fuck on there.

189 on that track is VERY FAST! It also shows that the 14's stability must be rock solid to cope with the track, where cars really struggle to produce good numbers there. It is actually a track used to test the endurance of high performance cars.

The 1/4 and braking testing were done at bruntingthorpe.

I would love to hear how the Brock setup does on your 10R, please let us know, I plan on putting one on my 14.

Sorry to disagree, read the article again.

On page 33.
"The next day we took the same bikes to Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground in the search for ultimate speed, 0-60mph and standing quarter times"

On page 34, the bit titled "Test 2 Top Speed".
"...as we squint into the heat haze down the two mile straight at Bruntingthorpe......" etc

do you agree ?

Something fishy,if none of the bikes except the 14 will reach 186 unresticted, why have a restrictor

On the first day the Kawasaki clocked 183.7
Two days later, 189.2

Remember this was the supposedly derestricted ZX-14 against the restricted Hayabusa, ZX-12R etc. Was it fair ? You be the judge.

How can the 14 not be faster than the Busa? The 12 was essentially the same speed as the Busa (depending on manufacturing tolerances and rider).
