Sounds like oil in the stator connector to me. Many people have had this problem. Kawi issued a recall on it.

Pull the rear seat off and pull the connector apart and see if it has oil in it. If so you have found your problem.

you guys called it.All oily and smells like shit.I couldn't get it undone even with the seat off,its late so I'll look at it tomorrow. If the dealer fixed it once, are they responsible for it now?Does it cause any harm to the voltage output?

I dont think it actually hurts anything...other than the obvious fire hazard

highly flammable petroleum products go well with electricity....like peas in a pod!

I disagree YCIS. The oil shorted the leads in the connector under my seat. That made it so the battery didn't charge. The dealer ended up having to replace the voltage regulator.

And, yes, aliveagain, if the dealer fixed it once, and the problem came back, you should be able to count on them fixing it again.

Dealer looked at bike and wouldn't fix it again. They said they were trying to get ahold of Kawasaki to see if there is another fix and who would pay for it.

A recall is a recall is a recall! If it's not fixed the danger/hazzard still exist. I had the gas tank & gauge recall done 2 years ago and this spring it went back in for the recall again(i also don't have the extended warrantee). Kawasaki told the dealer they didn't want to fix it, my dealer asked several times before they told me that it was an up-hill battle. I call kawasaki and explained that it is as much of a danger now as it was before the fix since the problem has not been corrected, and that I would hold them responsible. It worked, they went ahead and notified the dealer to fix it again. Sometimes you need to apply a little pressure to make someone do what is right.
